NEWSLETTER 2

Welcome to the second installment of the Train Like a Pro newsletter. As mentioned in last week's issue there are many exciting things happening with us. As the season winds down, the off-season is right around the corner. I can't over emphasize the importance of performing a professionally designed, hockey specific, strength and conditioning program. Players spend countless hours playing summer hockey, taking power skating lessons and attending hockey schools, while neglecting their need for strength and power. You can checkout the many different options we offer for performing a program that is guaranteed to maximize your on-ice performance.

Train Like a Pro owner Kevin Miehm writes weekly hockey specific training articles for the Ontario Hockey League. To view these articles visit www.ontariohockeyleague.com Kevin is also writes a weekly article at www.hockeycoach.com This is a great resource for all aspects of hockey, be sure to check it out. We will be training 10 NHL players along with over 60 OHL players this off-season. Although programs are age related, many of the exercises these players use are appropriate for hockey players of any age.

We are also opening an online store, where we will be offering all the training equipment that we feel will help your game. Check back to www.trainlikeapro1.com often to see the list of products. Hockey training manuals, nutritional programs and much more will also be offered. Information regarding our summer hockey camps will also be available.

Exercise of the week-Lateral Lunge and Press. This is a great exercise for building functional leg and core strength for hockey. Perform two sets of 10 reps per side with a comfortable weight.

On-ice tip of the week-On all drills, move your feet as quick as possible as this will train your nervous system to allow your muscles to explode.
